A Study on Farmers` Exposure to Spray of Pesticide

Abstract
|
|
|
This study wasconducted in 6 agricultural fields in Choonchung Porvince, Korea to assess the respiratory and dermal exposures of applicators using high pressure vehicle-mounted sprayer to fenvalerate and hexaconazole. Personal samples and dermal samples were collected by pump and skin patches.
Dermal exposure level was 1.0~2.4㎍/㎠/hr and 1.1~2.0㎍/㎠/hr in fenvalerate and hexaconazole, respectively. Lower legs are much higher than those of others.
Respiratory expsoure level was much higher than dermal expsoure during the application. The use of vehicle mounted sprayers´ exposure level was 0.7~18.8㎍/㎥(GM=3.7㎍/㎥) and 1.2~19.2㎍/㎥(GM=7.1㎍/㎥) in fenvalerate and hexaconazole, respectively.
The overall findings showed that potential exposures to body was mainly dermal route though respiratory exposure level was higher than dermal ones. Fenvalerate and hexaconazole were affected by physical facors like aerosols, wind velocity, etc.
